#3 the greens and the browns of it

So yesterday, I felt it was time to assemble my latest colony of barnacles.
As I was pondering which colors of thread to include in my third piece, I happened on this assemblage of brown yarns all piled up together from when I received them after I won them from an online auction. They looked as if they were meant to be together, and who was I to separate them, I thought to myself. So I picked them up and played around with the grouping for a little bit and decided to pile them onto the surface of the fabric material on the hoop and simply place the barnacles over them.

Here's how it looks now:

My daughter says they look like seaweeds. I kinda like that!
I was thinking if I should stitch up the "tails" or leave them as is and, upon careful deliberation, I kinda like the way they just hang outside of the hoop that way. So stay they will. I like the texture and the freeflowing effect.

Off to #4 I go.

a little crocheting each day...

feeds my creative soul.

it's amazing how i am able to sneak a  few minutes each day to crochet a tiny 'barnacle' to add to my growing colony of them in my shallow bowl.

i just love holding them and thinking how to get them alltogether somehow in the future.
so glad i got to score a huge lot of material from ebay. i used to hunt these things down in thriftstores but now that i have a big hefty bag full of assorted colors of thread, i am set, for life, even!

happy, happy, joy, joy!
